2013: Looking Back

2013. What a year! I don’t even know where to begin, but here goes…

On reflection, it becomes clear that this year has been the worst one of my life. I don’t really want to go into too much detail but I have spoke about something ‘big’ happening and I know that those of you who asked what it was only did so because you care. To give you the short story – my parents got divorced, I massively struggled to cope with this and am now trying to get back to the happy, smiley person I was before May. When talking to my Doctor he described divorce as being “like someone has died except you can never  fully move on or get over it as there are always new problems you encounter”. I completely agree with the first bit but would like to think that in years time I would look back at this with a smile on my face thinking that I must have been an exception to the latter bit.

Although this year was  one filled with tears there were a handful of happy times  during which I really felt amazing. Most of these times were Friday nights at my church youth club. This year I have massively struggled with my faith, which I guess is understandable. My main ‘tool’ in coping definitely was my Church. I do honestly think of them as my second family. They are all so lovely and a special handful of them have been extremely supportive and for that I am extremely grateful.

I also achieved quite a lot this year:
* Got Head Girl at my Secondary School
* Came second in PVB's 'Writer of the Year'
*Conquered my fear of sleeping in the dark (for the past 15 years I have slept with a night light!)
*Sat my GCSE mocks and didn't fail a single one!
*Got the school award for History, ICT and RE
*Completed 'BLOGMAS' on my blog (blogging everyday was a big deal for me!)
*Got invited to my first few PR/Press release events to do with my blog
*I know it's not really an 'achievement' but I also was lucky enough to go to London, Paris and New York!

I thought it would be nice to recap a bit on my favourite memories from the year + photos! I love reflecting so this sort of post is right up my alley!

I celebrated my 15th Birthday in January
This photo makes me laugh. What makes me laugh even more is the fact it was taken on valentines day. Oh and the double chin haha!

Favourite girls at Em's birthday party. Excuse me stupid face haha!
Me and Becca in our TuTu's for the Swan Ballet in a show we performed at the Theatre

Phillipa and me (Honk! The Musical)
In May I went to New York. This is a photo of me and my best friend Lauren in the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square!
Toilet selfies with Lois and Emily in New York!
 In London in July
Picnic outside Buckingham Palace with my bestie Becca

Soul Survivor with my Church. This is a little vlog I made of my week there!

This was probably my favourite night of the WHOLE year! I went ice skating with all the youth from my local church and as you can see from the video we sung the whole way there on the minubus - that's not even an exaggeration!
This photo was taken after our church youth group Christmas meal. This group of people have been such a support to me this year and I loved celebrating Christmas and stuffing my face with them!

Have you done any reflection heading forward into 2014?

As someone once said to me:
"You cannot predict the future so you may as well understand the past"
I love this quite and reckon it will stick with me for a long time.

Head back here tomorrow to see '2014: Looking Forward'

NYE Glitzy Makeup FOTD

This FOTD was actually a makeup look I wore to my friends 16th Birthday Party a couple of weeks back (OOTD LINK HERE)

It featured a blue/brown warm smoky eye, black winged eyeliner with glitter along the top. I really liked this makeup look as it was my usual evening makeup look but with a glitzy twist. Being a teenager and wearing makeup can often be a bit tricky. If I walked out the door with glitter on my eyes and a bold lip look I would resemble a six year old who has tried mummy's makeup on. To save this happening I decided that since I had quite a heavy smoky/glittery eye I would only wear carmex lip balm on my lips.

This look would be great for a NYE party makeup look. The glitter just screams "WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2014!"

I used my Rimmel wake me up foundation which is amazing. If you have never tried it -try it!

Everytime I wear it I get so many compliments on my skin.

I know that the bottom photo is a bit odd but all of these photos were taken with my friend Emily's amazing camera which I am in love with.

The glitter eyeliner I used was from Collection and they do it in a whole array of colours so if silver is too boring for you feel free to go craaazy!

Please comment with link if you have done a NYE makeup tutorial - I would love to see some!

What are your plans for seeing in the New Year?

I'm in Disneyland!

 JLS hoodies....CRINGE!

So currently I am in France, staying at our house for some post Christmas fun!
I'm writing this post sat at home in Somerset, on the 14th December. I'm feeling pretty organised. Were half way through the month and I have already finished doing all of my posts for blogmas. Focusing on a project has been so fun and I'm now looking forward and planning posts for January. I just wanted to let you all know why I am quiet on the twitter front. Although saying that, the house has wifi so I probably will still be on line for a bit in the evening.

I thought it would be fun to show you some photos from me and my family at Disneyland from over the years. We tend to go every other year so have quite a nice collection of photos (there should be some new ones coming your way soon. Now that my sister has an amazing camera that she got for Christmas I am hoping to get some amazing OOTD shots!) Above are a few of the best ones, plus you get a sneak peak at my love for Ratatouille. Some of the outfits I have on our pretty funny too - haha!

Hope you all enjoy your week. Will try and keep you posted when I can.

Christmas: The True Meaning + My Present to You All

*I planned to put this post live on Christmas day but don't really want to have to fire up my laptop tomorrow plus I don't expect many of you lovely lots will be on the internet. Therefore I'm posting it today instead - Merry Christmas Eve!*

Merry Christmas! I hope you all are having/have an amazing day and make some memories to treasure forever. I know that not many of you will read this on Christmas day, but even if you read it on boxing day or perhaps even next December that will mean something to me.

As a Christian I want to talk really openly about Jesus on my blog but don’t want to shove things in your face. Saying that, I vowed a couple of months ago to make sure that the theme of my blog is ‘Lucy’. Not fashion, not beauty and not lifestyle. Just a collection of beautiful things floating around in my head. Because of that, it would be odd to not do a post about why I celebrate Christmas as this season is such a special one to me.

Within this post I do not intend to offend anyone. I just wish to let you know why I celebrate Christmas. Since Blogmas has been so popular I am guessing that a fair few of you are religious as it’s called CHRISTmas for a reason! I hope you learn more about me and my beliefs from this post and that I someway help you on your walk with Jesus.

The true meaning of Christmas is one I usually get stuck on. As you will know from my blogmas posts I love all the material things that come with Christmas. Trees, tinsel and food (especially food!)I do not think there is anything wrong with this – If you remember the ‘true’ meaning is more important than all of these things.

Through all these different things the one true reason of Christmas is something simple yet beautiful, love.

. John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

The true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of this incredible act of love.

The real Christmas story is the one of God becoming a human being in the Person of Jesus Christ. Why did God do such a thing? Because He loves us! Why was Christmas necessary? Because we needed a Savior! Why does God love us so much? Because He is love itself (1 John 4:8). Why do we celebrate Christmas each year? Out of gratitude for what God did for us, we remember His birth by giving each other gifts, worshipping Him, and being especially conscious of the poor and less fortunate.

The true meaning of Christmas is love. God loved His own and provided a way—the only Way—for us to spend eternity with Him. He gave His only Son to take our punishment for our sins. He paid the price in full, and we are free from condemnation when we accept that free gift of love. "But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).

I am forever thankful to God for sending Jesus and that will be at the forefront of my mind this Christmas.

I really want to give my lovely readers a Christmas Present but obviously that is impossible. I thought it would be nice to create a 'Prayer Request Page' on my blog. I am fully aware that not all my readers are Christians but I feel really passionately about creating this. I want to open up the oppertunity for you all to contact me about anything. From your cat dying, to you stressing about mocks - right up to huge things like illness or death. Anything you email me will remain 100% confidential and I will simply pray for you. I will not pester you or pry, I just simply want to offer a prayer request 'system' as I thought it might help. Even if I only get a responce from 1 person it will all be worth it. Do not feel like you have to fit into any category to ask me. Athiest, Christian, Muslim - email me who ever you are! Head over to the 'Prayer Request + Getting Help' at the top of my blog if you wish for more info.

Merry Christmas.

Lots of Love,

A Little Post (Winter Must Haves - Tanya Burr/Zoella)

A really quick post from me today as I am super busy!
Christmas is steaming towards us at 10000mph and I have so much to do.

I thought I would just do a little short but sweet blog post today with a YouTube video that I am loving! Tanya Burr uploaded this video to her YouTube. In it she beautifully shows us her 'Winter Must Haves'. I adore this video as I think it is filmed and edited beautifully, plus the song 'little soldier' is so Christmassy + cute!

Whilst writing up this post I also remembered this video that Zoe from Zoella posted back in October. It's cute, chick and girly. Not half as Christmassy as Tanya's but to be fair it went live in October, not December.

Sorry that it's such a short post!

What's your favourite YT vids to watch this time of year?
Are you watching any YouTuber's Vlogmas?

The Christmas Tag!

Christmas is getting closer and closer. AHHHHH!

So today I thought that I would do the Christmas tag as I haven't done a tag in AGESSSSS!

What's your favourite things about Christmas?
Definitely the whole build up process. Putting up the tree, Christmas shopping and wrapping, vlogmas - it's all so much better than the actual day in my opinion!

What's your favourite makeup look for the Festive Season?
I actually did a post of my two favourite looks for the festive season within my Blogmas series.
If you wish to check them out;
My everyday Winter Makeup - HERE

Real Tree or Fake Tree?
I definitely prefer real trees. I think they compliment the Baubles better and generally look nicer. Last year we got a real Christmas tree for the first time and it was a bit of a nightmare. Spikes from the tree got EVERYWHERE. Everytime you put a present under the tree you would end up with loads in your hair and fallen down the back of your clothes. Then just before New year the tree actually got knocked over and there were spikes all over the floor. When we stood the tree back up it was just bare branches :( That's why we stuck to fake trees this year!

Giving presents or receiving presents?
Definitely giving. I always go overboard with buying presents for everyone and then am totally skint for January.

Do you open your presents in the morning or evening?
We used to open them in the morning. We would always wake up our parents at 6 and they would tell us to wait till 7!

Homemade cards or bought?
Bought! Writing them takes up enough time let alone making them aswell! Perhaps when I'm retired and have nothing better to do....

Favourite Christmas film?
Well I'm glad you mentioned that as I actually did a blogpost on it haha (reoccurring theme!)

What's your favourite Christmas food?
Definitely pigs in blankets! They are just so so yummy!

So there you go - if you have done a Christmas tag please leave it in the comments below!

Teenage FOTD: A London Hotel Room

Whilst in London (If you haven't already seen my pictures post click HERE) I did a pretty classic makeup look and decided to photograph it to show you all. I want to apologise for three things first of all:
1) The poor lighting
2) The over editing (I was really self conscious about my breakouts but still wanted to publish these photos)
3) My eyebrows - they need plucking soooo bad!
With all that said - onto what I put on my face!

I used my ALL TIME favourite foundation that the whole wide world has talked about: Rimmel Wake Me Up. It gives such a radient glow and looks so dewy on the skin. It gives a beautiful finish and although I am extremely late onto this band wagon I plan to do a full review in 2014 even though it will be very over due.

Here's a list of all the products I used:
*Rimmel Wake me up Foundation
*Natural Collection Mascara
*Rimmel Brow Pencil
*Rimmel Black Kohl Eyeliner
*Primark Bronzer
*MUA 'Heaven and Earth' Palette
* Barry M Translucent powder
* Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick in colour 007
*Real Techniques brushes

This makeup is one of my 'staple' looks as it's a bit like that dress you can throw on over and over again. It is pretty easy, hassle free and looks not too shabby! It is a good look for teenagers as it's not too heavy (as you can see I have applied minimal lipstick) A winged eye would be a nice addition to dress this look up a bit more aswell!

What makeup look is your 'go to'?

My Present/Gift Wrapping

At Christmas I love seeing Trees with some beautifully wrapped presents underneath it. It makes me heart melt. Don't get me wrong I am appalling at wrapping - so so bad! Instead I cover this up by using bows, ribbons, gift bags and tissue paper and it seems to work quite well.

I thought this post would be a nice little visual one to inspire you to do some last minute beautiful wrapping. It really makes all the difference with a present. It can make it stand out and adds that well needed 'magic spark'. I save up ribbon, bows and bags all year round and keep them in a hamper. I took a few photos of the contents of the 'box of goodies' to show you what sort of things I save. You may wish to start one of your own and save pretty bows and labels this Christmas. If someone has tied your present with beautiful ribbon that you love, why not pass it on on a present to someone who you love?

Sorry that this is such a short post today but there's not really a lot else left to say!

OOTD: Poppy's 16th Birthday Meal

I went out for a lovely meal on Friday night with all of the girls to celebrate my friend Poppy's birthday.
I thought you might be interested in knowing what I wore ect....

Dress: Boutique (Try ebay to find similar)
Blazer: Primark
Tights: Primark (2 pairs layered)
Shoes: New Look

We had a fab time and my friend Emily who has been on my blog lots before got ready at my house with me before hand. I especially love the photo of her posing with the tree - we have such a giggle when were together! I also love the bottom picture - I think we were dancing to Lily Allen's 'Hard Out Here'.

This dress is pretty out there. It will turn heads as it is not a 'blend in' dress. I haven't yet plucked up the courage to wear it but on Friday I was in an adventurous frame of mind and went for it. I'm so pleased I did as it grew on me so so much and now I love it. I like that the styling was pretty basic and simple, as if I was to add a coulourful blazer I'm pretty sure I would of ended up looking like a car crash.
(Sorry Em - Stole this from your blog! PS...our friendship group love to pull stupid faces haha!)

I will be doing a separate post on my boots in the new year as I adore them. They are not my usual type but none the less I love them.

Emily also did a post with her OOTD over on her blog; HERE

Hope you're enjoying blogmas!

Today is my last full day at school as tomorrow is a half day - WOOO!
